LG washer UE error – fix it without calling a technician

The UE code means your LG washer detected an unbalanced load. Good news — most of the time it can be fixed in under 2 minutes and no parts need replacement.

Try this first: open the washer, spread the clothes evenly around the drum, and restart the cycle.

Top causes of LG UE error

  • Too many or too few clothes
  • Blankets/towels clumped together
  • Washer not level on the floor
  • Shock absorbers worn (less common)

How to fix it (in this order)

  1. Open the washer and redistribute the clothes evenly.
  2. Remove heavy items and run an empty spin-only cycle.
  3. Check water level & spin strength — listen for normal rotation.
  4. Restart power: turn the breaker OFF → wait 30 sec → turn ON.
⚠ If the washer shakes violently, stop immediately and unplug it. Do NOT force a spin cycle.

Quick way to check leveling

  • Press corners — is the washer rocking?
  • Use a spirit level on top, front/back & side/side.
  • Adjust feet until stable.
  • Place anti-vibration pads if floor is uneven.

Helpful items for washer balance
